Our Focus Courses are designed to improve and hone your technical skill set by concentrating on one topic at a time.  Typically shorter in length than our Curriculum courses, these courses are a great way to brush up on a particular skill, or dial in your education where you feel you need it most.

Who should take this course?

This course is best suited for individuals who already possess an introductory level of experience with multi-pitch climbing, who wish to hone their multi-pitch efficiency and techniques. 

This 1 day Focus course is filled with useful tips and strategies relating to the multi-pitch environment.  From belay transitions to rappel set ups and more, students will have the opportunity to discuss different approaches and best practices, while gaining hands-on experience and instructor feedback.  

What will you learn?

Course topics include but are not limited to:

  • Block leading vs Swing leading

  • Belay ledge management

  • Belay/Lead Transitions

  • Rope management tips

  • Rappel setup efficiency

  • Rappel strategies/techniques

Prerequisites

Participants must have completed a GG Intro to Trad Climbing course or possess competent equivalent knowledge.  While traditional climbing experience isn't required, students should have at minimum an experience/understanding of top-belaying, multi-pitch rappelling, and general associated practices.

Time / Location

This course runs from 8am to 4pm at our Chebucto Head location. (In order to provide the best instruction possible, we may on occasion choose a different start time and location depending on weather or other concerns).
